I WILL NOT PRETEND

I will not pretend that I can leap
When, still, I wrestle with slippery feet.
I will not pretend to be a Superman
Until I can fly past these obstacles,
Winking at the face of my disgust.

My fears, they know my name.
They cause me pains.
Yes, go ask my Puku.

I know,
I seek to live beyond these things
But I will not live a lie.
So on the morrow, I won't be mocked by the truth
That I once flee from a contest
I should have embraced.

I will not pretend that I am invincible.
But I will live, happily, a Victor
Who finds gusto in his defeats.
And sees his scars as beauty marks to show off,
When the battle's finally gone.
